Greece: Economic sentiment rises in May
Economic sentiment rose to 111.0 in May from April’s 108.6. May’s result marked the best reading since August 2023. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected a broad-based improvement, with sentiment in the industrial, construction, services and retail sectors improving in the surveyed month. That said, consumer confidence weakened in May.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were unchanged, while the economic uncertainty index increased in May.
