Germany: Industrial output rises in March
Industrial production rose 2.5% month-on-month in March, after contracting 1.9% in February. The print reflected growth in the production of intermediate goods, consumer goods, energy and greater activity in the construction sector. On the other hand, capital goods output fell.
On an annual basis, industrial production rose 5.1% in March, following the 6.8% drop in the prior month. The print in part benefited from a favorable base effect, as industrial production plunged at a double-digit pace in March last year.
