France: Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level since July 2021 in August
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation came in at 2.2% in August, down from July’s 2.7%. August’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since July 2021, as was driven by softer price rises for housing and transport.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 3.3% in August (July: 3.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 1.8% in August from the previous month’s 2.3%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.60% in August over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.20% rise seen in July. August’s result marked the highest reading since April.
