France: Inflation slows in June from May
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.0% in annual terms in June, following a 2.8% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +1.2% in May), transportation (+5.1% vs +8.5% in May), housing and utilities (+2.7% vs +2.9% in May) and recreation (-0.5% vs -0.4% in May). Finally, the change in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+2.8% in June and May).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 1.8% in annual terms in June, following a 2.4% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were down 0.34% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.14% rise in the prior month.
