France: Industrial output drops at sharpest pace since October 2022 in May
Industrial output fell 2.1% month-on-month in seasonally adjusted terms in May (April: +0.6% mom). May’s result marked the worst reading since October 2022. The notable deterioration was primarily due to contractions in manufacturing and mining and quarrying production.
On an annual basis, industrial output fell 3.1% in May (April: +1.1% yoy), the worst result since October 2022. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 0.4% in May (April: +0.8%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.
