Finland: Inflation ebbs in July from June
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.5% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 2.7% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.7% in annual terms vs +0.8% in June), transportation (+6.0% vs +6.6% in June) and housing and utilities (+3.3% vs +3.8% in June). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for recreation (+1.4% vs +1.3% in June) and restaurants and hotels (+2.2% vs +2.1% in June).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 2.1% in annual terms in July, unchanged from the previous month’s reading.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.18% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.37% decline in the prior month.
