Finland: Current account surplus rises in November
The current account recorded a EUR 2.2 billion surplus in November, improving from the EUR 0.2 billion surplus recorded in October (November 2022: EUR 1.0 billion surplus). Meanwhile, in the 12 months leading up to November, the current account posted a EUR 1.3 billion deficit, compared to the EUR 2.6 billion deficit clocked in October.
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 2.3 billion surplus in November (October 2023: EUR 0.6 billion surplus). Merchandise exports were broadly stable rising just 0.2% on an annual basis in November, on the heels of October’s 10.8% plummet. November’s outturn marked the strongest reading since March 2023. Meanwhile, merchandise imports dived 16.3% over the same month last year in November (October: -18.9% yoy).
