Euro Area: Unemployment rate falls in August
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 6.4% in August, down from July’s 6.5%.
Nine economies saw their unemployment rates stable in August, including Germany and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, seven economies saw their unemployment rates decrease, including France, Italy and Spain, while four economies saw their unemployment rates increase.
Significant disparities in labor market conditions between core and periphery countries persist. Spain (11.5%) and Greece (10.9%) are the economies with the highest unemployment rates. At the other end of the spectrum, Malta (2.7%) and Germany (3.0%) have the lowest unemployment rates.
