Ecuador: Inflation hits a six-year high in January
Consumer prices rose 0.72% over the prior month in January, following December’s 0.07% increase. Looking at the details of the press release, prices for food and beverages surged, while prices for communication and hospitality also increased over the prior month in January.
Inflation accelerated to 2.6% in January from 1.9% in December, the highest inflation rate since February 2016. Accordingly, the annual average inflation increased, coming in at 0.4%, following December’s 0.1%.
