Denmark: Inflation increases in January

Inflation rose to 1.2% in January, above December’s 0.7%. January’s result marked the highest inflation rate since August 2023. Looking at the details of the release, January’s acceleration was primarily due to a less pronounced fall in prices for housing and utilities.

Still, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.8% in January (December: 3.3%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 2.5% in January, from the previous month’s 2.6%.

Lastly, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 0.94% over the previous month in January, swinging from the 0.51% fall seen in December. January’s figure marked the highest reading since July 2023.
