Denmark: Inflation slows in January

Consumer prices fell 0.3% compared to the previous month in January, matching December’s result. As in December, lower prices for clothing and footwear explained most of the overall decline in prices, according to Statistics Denmark (DST). Meanwhile, prices for alcoholic beverages, electricity, and non-alcoholic beverages rose.

Inflation decreased to 0.7% in January, down from 1.0% in December. Annual average inflation decreased marginally to 1.1% in January (December: 1.2%).

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased 0.6% year-on-year in January, down from 0.8% in December, while annual average HICP remained stable at December’s 1.1%.
