Czech Republic: Inflation drops in August

September 14, 2022

Inflation came in at 17.2% in August, which was down from July’s 17.5%. The moderation was largely driven by a softer increase in prices for housing and utilities. Moreover, prices for recreation and culture grew at a more subdued pace.

Annual average inflation rose to 11.7% in August (July: 10.6%).

Finally, consumer prices increased 0.44% over the previous month in August, coming in below July's 1.33% increase. August's result marked the weakest reading since December 2021.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists forecast that inflation will average 14.7% in 2022, which is from last month’s Consensus, and 6.6% in 2023.
