Czech Republic: Decline in industrial activity softens in December
Industrial output decreased 0.7% year on year in working-day adjusted terms in December, which was a smaller contraction than November’s 2.7% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output decreased at a sharper rate in December, and the contraction in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply output worsened. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying output also shrunk at a faster rate.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose 2.8% in December (November: -1.5% mom) Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 0.4%, down from November’s 0.0%.
