Czech Republic: Decline in industrial activity softens in August
Industrial production declined 1.7% year on year in working-day adjusted terms in August (July: -2.8% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, August’s softer drop was broad-based, with the manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and mining and quarrying sub-sectors all improving.
On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 0.2% in seasonally adjusted terms in August, rebounding from July’s 2.7% fall.. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 1.8% in August (July: +2.5%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.
