Czech Republic: Economic sentiment improves in December
Economic sentiment came in at 90.9 in December, up from November’s 87.9. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the industrial sector. Additionally, confidence in the services sector strengthened in December, while sentiment in the retail sector increased in the surveyed month. On the flipside, sentiment in the construction sector weakened. Lastly, consumer confidence cooled in December.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index fell in December.
