Cyprus: Economic sentiment records worst reading since December 2022 in February
Economic sentiment came in at 103.3 in February, down from January’s 104.7. February’s result marked the weakest sentiment since December 2022. That said, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected declining sentiment in the industrial, services and retail sectors. Moreover, consumer confidence softened in February. On the flip side, sentiment in the construction sector strengthened.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index improved in February.
