Costa Rica: Consumer prices record smallest fall since June 2023 in February
Consumer prices fell 1.1% in annual terms in February, following January’s 1.9% year-on-year decrease. February’s reading represented the smallest drop in consumer prices since June 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell at a softer rate in February. Prices for transportation also fell at a less pronounced pace. Meanwhile, housing prices grew at a slower pace.
The trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 0.8% in February (January: -0.2%).
Lastly, consumer prices dropped 0.11% over the previous month in February, swinging from the 0.06% increase recorded in January.
