Costa Rica: Economic activity gains steam in March
Latest reading: Economic activity increased 4.4% in annual terms in March, following 2.9% growth in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in March improved for manufacturing (+3.9% in annual terms vs -2.2% in February), information and communication (+3.6% vs +3.4% in February) and the construction sector (+14.1% vs +11.8% in February). In contrast, readings worsened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (-0.9% vs +5.6% in February) and domestic trade (+2.9% vs +3.2% in February).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, economic activity increased 1.2% in March, following 0.5% growth in the previous month.
