Colombia: Manufacturing output quickens in January
Manufacturing production expanded at a four-month high of 15.1% year-on-year in January, accelerating from December’s 13.5% increase. Looking at the details of the release, 37 out of the 39 total subsectors recorded growth in January, up from the total 32 that clocked increases in December. January’s upturn was largely due to clothing manufacturing output increasing at a brisker pace, which more than offset beverage production output rising at a more moderate pace.
Consequently, the trend improved, with the annual average growth of manufacturing production coming in at 17.3% in January (December: 15.9%).
