Colombia: Consumer sentiment deteriorates in February
Consumer sentiment came in at minus 9.4 in February, deteriorating form January’s minus 7.9. As such, the index moved further below the 0-point threshold, indicating starker pessimism among consumers.
The downtick in the headline print largely reflected consumers were more pessimistic over their current financial situation than a year ago. Similarly, they became more averse to making big-ticket purchases.
Sentiment remains pessimistic overall, boding ill for private spending ahead. Inflation remained above target through February, which will likely continue to dampen sentiment in the coming months.
