Chile: Inflation stable in June
July 8, 2019
Consumer prices remained stable in June (May: +0.6% month-on-month), as rosier prices for food and recreation offset lower prices for transport. Core consumer prices remained stable as well, following May’s 0.4% month-on-month upturn.
Inflation came in at 2.3% in June, matching May’s result, thus remaining slightly below the midpoint of the Central Bank’s 2.0%–4.0% target rate. In addition, core inflation edged up to 2.1% (May: 2.0%).
Annual average inflation clocked in at 2.4%, unchanged from May’s result.
The Central Bank projects year-end inflation of 2.6% in 2019 and of 3.0% in 2020.
