Chile: Inflation falls to lowest level since May 2022 in January
Inflation dropped to 12.3% in January, following Decembers 12.8%. January’s result marked the weakest inflation rate since May 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a weaker rate in January. Prices for housing, utilities and fuel also rose at a more moderate pace.
The trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 12.0% in January (December: 11.6%). Meanwhile, core inflation was unchanged, coming in at December’s 8.6% in January.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.80% over the previous month in January, picking up from December’s 0.29% increase.
