Chile: Inflation declines to lowest level since March 2022 in April
Inflation came in at 9.9% in April, which was down from March’s 11.1% and marginally below market expectations. April’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since March 2022. The result was driven by moderating price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and transportation.
In addition, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 12.4% in April (March: 12.5%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 8.7% in April, from March’s 9.4%.
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.31% over the previous month in April, following the 1.08% increase recorded in March.
