Chile: Inflation at one-year high in April
Consumer prices jumped a seasonally-adjusted 0.38% in April over the previous month, following the 0.37% increase seen in March. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and for communication grew the most.
Inflation rose to a one-year high of 3.3% in April from March’s 2.9%. Meanwhile, annual average inflation was unchanged at the previous month’s 2.9% in April. Lastly, core inflation rose to 2.9% from 2.6% in March, marking the highest reading since November 2016.
