Chile: Consumer confidence weakens in August
The consumer confidence index, produced by the Universidad del Desarrollo, dropped to 81.6 points in August from 87.5 points in July, which had marked the strongest result since September 2019. Therefore, the index moved further below the 100 threshold, signifying pessimism among consumers.
Consumers grew markedly more downbeat about the outlook on the labor market, and were more pessimistic regarding their future incomes. Moreover, their views on the current and future economic situation worsened.
