Chile: Business confidence increases in September
Business confidence came in at 43.4 in September, up from August’s 43.2. September’s result marked the best performance since May 2022. Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 50-point threshold, indicating pessimism among businesses and boding poorly for fixed investment in the period.
September’s rise was driven by more upbeat sentiment in the retail and construction sectors. In contrast, sentiment in the mining and industrial sectors dimmed.
