Bulgaria: Inflation comes in at highest level since March 2020 in April
Consumer prices increased 0.70% in April over the previous month, accelerating from March’s 0.06% rise. April’s figure marked the sharpest increase in prices since January 2020. The reading chiefly reflected rising prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose.
Inflation rose to 2.0% in April, from March’s 0.6%, marking the highest reading since March 2020. Meanwhile, the trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at March’s 0.8% in April. Lastly, harmonized inflation rose to 2.0% in April from March’s 0.8% increase.
