Bulgaria: Inflation comes in at highest level in over a year in May
Consumer prices increased 0.14% in May over the previous month, a smaller increase than April’s 0.70% rise. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and transportation eased compared to the previous month.
Inflation came in at 2.5% in May, up from April’s 2.0%. May’s result represented the highest inflation rate since March 2020. Annual average inflation ticked up to 0.9% in May (April: 0.8%). Lastly, harmonized inflation rose to 2.3% in May, from the previous month’s 2.0%.
