Bulgaria: Industrial output contracts at sharpest rate since May 2020 in April
Industrial output plunged 14.0% compared to the same month of the previous year in April, which was a deterioration from March’s 9.2% decrease. The figure marked the worst reading since May 2020. April’s figure was partly due to a sharper fall in manufacturing output. Meanwhile, mining production contracted at a more moderate pace.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell at a more pronounced rate of 2.9% in April (March: -2.1% mom). Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 4.8% in April (March: +7.1%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.
