Bulgaria: Decline in industrial output softens in June
Industrial output dropped 7.7% in year-on-year terms in June, which was a smaller contraction than May’s 16.1% plunge.
Looking at the details of the release, June’s softer drop largely reflected a pickup in the mining sector, while manufacturing output declined at a slower rate compared to the previous month.
On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 5.8% in seasonally-adjusted terms in June, notably above May’s 1.3% expansion and marking the best result since March 2010. However, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 4.0% in June, down from May’s minus 3.7%.
