Brazil: Inflation falls to lowest level since July 2023 in January
Inflation came in at 4.5% in January, down from December’s 4.6%. January’s reading represented the weakest inflation rate since July 2023. Looking at the details of the release, January’s moderation was primarily driven by slower growth in prices for transportation.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 4.5% in January (December: 4.6%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.42% in January over the previous month, moderating from the 0.56% increase logged in December.
