Brazil: Inflation comes in at over one-year high in November
Latest reading: Inflation ticked up to 4.9% in November, above October’s 4.8%. November’s figure marked the highest inflation rate since September 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation increased at a faster rate in November. Similarly, prices for food and beverages increased at a stronger clip. Conversely, housing price growth softened.
Annual average inflation was unchanged at October’s 4.3% in November. Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 4.0% in November from October’s 4.1%.
Finally, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 0.39% from the previous month in November, following October’s 0.56% rise. November’s result marked the weakest reading since August.
