Brazil: Inflation eases in June from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 4.6% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 4.7% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for transportation (+4.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +4.1% in May), food and beverages (+3.8% vs +3.9% in May), housing and utilities (+5.9% vs +6.2% in May), clothing (+4.0% vs +4.6% in May) and education (+6.3% vs +6.4% in May).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 4.6% in annual terms in June, following a 4.7% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.16% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.58% rise in the previous month.
