Brazil: Consumer sentiment rises but remains pessimistic in April
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation rose to 78.6 in April from March’s 74.8. While April’s result marked the best performance since August 2021, the index still remained below the 100-point threshold, indicating continued pessimism among consumers.
The headline print reflected an improvement in consumers’ views of the current economic situation and less pessimism of the future economic situation.
