Belarus: Inflation falls to lowest level since May in September
Inflation dropped to 17.4% in September, below Augusts 17.9%. September’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since May. The moderation was driven by softer price increases for housing and utilities, food and transportation.
That said, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 14.4% in September (August: 13.8%).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.87% in September over the previous month, picking up from August’s 0.05% increase.
FocusEconomics analysts project inflation to average 13.3% in 2023, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last months forecast. In 2024, the panel sees inflation averaging 10.0%.
