Belarus: Industrial production contracts less quickly in May
Latest reading: Industrial production was down 1.4% on a year-on-year basis in May, following a 2.5% drop in the previous month. May’s reading was the strongest since October 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in May improved for manufacturing (-3.2% on a year-on-year basis vs -4.6% in April), mining and quarrying (+2.5% vs +2.4% in April) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (+1.1% vs +0.6% in April). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply softened in May (+8.2% vs +8.7% in April).
