Argentina: Inflation soars in March

Consumer prices surged 6.73% from the previous month in March, coming in above the 4.69% rise recorded in February. March's result marked the most pronounced increase on record. In March, the sharpest rises in prices were recorded for education, clothing and footwear and utilities.

Inflation came in at 55.1% in March, up from February’s 52.3%. March's reading represented the highest inflation rate since June 2019. Annual average inflation rose to 51.3% in March (February: 50.2%).

Inflation is expected to be 47.9% at the end of 2022, which is up 2.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. Inflation is projected to decelerate to 36.7% at the end of 2023.
