Argentina: Inflation climbs in February

Consumer prices jumped 3.60% over the previous month in January, following the 4.00% surged logged in January, which had marked the fastest increase in over one year. In February, the sharpest increases in prices were recorded for restaurants and hotels, transport and for house equipment.

Inflation increased to 40.7% in February from January’s 38.5%, marking the fastest print in six months. Annual average inflation fell to 40.7% in February (January: 41.5%).

FocusEconomics panelists project inflation to end 2021 at 48.0%, which is up 1.3 percentage points from last month’s estimate, and 2022 at 36.6%.
