Argentina: Manufacturing production shrinks in April
Latest reading: Manufacturing production fell 2.8% on a year-on-year basis in April, following 5.1% growth in the previous month. The fall was partly due to a far tougher base of comparison, as there was a large slump in manufactured output in March 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in April softened for machinery and equipment (-20.2% on a year-on-year basis vs -11.2% in March), basic metals (-11.2% vs -9.3% in March), automotive vehicles (-10.7% vs +6.9% in March) and food and beverages (-2.4% vs +8.2% in March). In contrast, the reading for chemical products improved in April (+16.7% vs +15.2% in March).
