Argentina: Manufacturing production shrinks more quickly in May
Latest reading: Manufacturing production fell 5.7% in annual terms in May, following a 2.5% fall in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in May softened for machinery and equipment (-23.4% on a year-on-year basis vs -18.1% in April), chemical products (-3.1% vs +16.4% in April), automotive vehicles (-15.9% vs -10.4% in April) and food and beverages (-3.0% vs -2.2% in April). In contrast, the reading for basic metals improved in May (-4.0% vs -11.0% in April).
