Argentina: Consumer sentiment falls further in January
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index fell to 35.6 in January from 39.8 in December 2023. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers’ expectations over the general economic conditions in the year ahead weakened considerably. However, they grew less pessimistic over their future financial situations. Additionally, their willingness to purchase big ticket items improved slightly.
