Argentina: Consumer confidence rises in January
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index increased to 40.1 in January from 37.8 in December. Nevertheless, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers’ expectations over the general economic conditions in the year ahead improved, and they grew less pessimistic over their future financial situation. Meanwhile, their willingness to purchase big ticket items also strengthened.
