Angola: Inflation eases further in June
Consumer prices increased 0.84% in June over the previous month, ticking down from the 0.92% rise logged in May. The overall increase was spearheaded by rising prices for health services, transport, clothing and footwear, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco. In contrast, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a more moderate pace.
Inflation fell to 23.0% in June, from 24.4% in May, marking the lowest reading since July of 2020. Moreover, the trend pointed down marginally, with annual average inflation coming in at 26.1% in June, down from May’s 29.1%. Lastly, inflation in Luanda eased to 23.3% at the end of Q2 (May: 25.1%).
