Kenya: Inflation falls again in April

Consumer prices increased 1.35% over the previous month in April following a 1.39% month-on-month rise in March. April’s print reflected higher prices in nine out of the 12 sub-components, a flat reading in two of them and lower prices in the remaining category. Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels climbed the most, while prices for communication dipped from the previous month.

Inflation continued on a downward course from 4.2% in March to 3.7% in April. It hovers close to the mid-point of the Central Bank’s medium-term target range of 2.5%–7.5%. Annual average inflation fell to 6.3% in April, down from 6.9% in March.
