January 21, 2022

Consumer prices rose 0.40% over the previous month in December, up from November’s 0.24% rise. December’s result largely reflected higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Meanwhile, prices for transportation cooled in December.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.2% in 2022, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 2.1% in 2023.
