Unemployment rate rises in Q1

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.3% in Q1 2024 from 4.0% in Q4 2023. Meanwhile, the employment rate fell to 68.4% in Q1 from 69.0% in Q4, while the underutilization rate—which includes both unemployment and underemployment—increased to 11.2% in Q1 from 10.7% in Q4.
