UAE: Fall in consumer prices eases further in April
Consumer prices increased 0.44% in April over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.06% rise recorded in March. April’s result was the strongest increase in prices since May 2019. The reading largely reflected higher prices for transportation, as well as for recreation and culture.
Consumer prices declined 0.5% on an annual basis in April, slowing from March’s 1.1% fall. April’s result marked the smallest dip in consumer prices since January 2019, although it was partly favored by a low base effect. Consequently, the trend pointed up, with annual average variation of consumer prices coming in at minus 2.0% in April, up from March’s minus 2.1%.
