Switzerland: Inflation holds steady in September

Consumer prices increased 0.02% over the previous month in September, a smaller increase than August's 0.25% increase. The moderation was largely driven by a more moderate rise in prices for housing and energy. In addition, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages dropped.

Inflation was stable at 0.9% in September. The annual average variation of consumer prices ticked up to 0.1% in September (August: -0.1%).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect consumer prices to rise 0.4% on average in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2022, panelists pencil in average inflation of 0.6%, which is unchanged from the previous month.
