Switzerland: KOF Economic Barometer moderates sharply in March
The KOF Economic Barometer came in at 99.7 in March, down from February’s 105.3. March’s result marked the weakest sentiment since January 2021. As a result, the index moved below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a slightly muted near-term outlook for the Swiss economy.
March’s softer reading was driven by weaker signs regarding manufacturing and private consumption, and was likely linked to the expected fallout from the war in Ukraine.
