Spain: Retail sales growth speeds up in March
Retail sales grew 2.2% compared to the same month of the previous year in March, which followed February’s 2.2% increase. The pickup was partly due to faster growth in large chain stores sales. In contrast, single retail stores sales weakened.
On a monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.5% in seasonally adjusted terms in March, contrasting February’s 0.5% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 2.2% in March (February: +2.7%), signaling a worsening trend in the retail trade sector.
